Pascal came all the way from New Zealand for the LVO and Challenges Reecius for a spot on team Zero Comp in this 1,850pt Throw Down! As always, check out the Tactics Corner for more great video bat reps!

Been a vicious couple of days for the ol gray bush on video/streamed WH40k .. 😉
Yeah, that game was rough and I could have won had the Monolith come in, too! But between that and my Knight killing unit getting blown up in the explosion, I just had no chance.
Don’t worry reece,c we can play next time your around, you can kick the puppy
Might have come out better without the wonky list haha. Necrons have a lot of great ways to wreck Knights, but Spyders, Monoliths, and Tesla Immortals are not among them.
Cool to see people travel so far to play tabletop though! It’s amazing to realize that this has become a worldwide community.
Yeah, totally, but, I used the models I had painted =) Scarabs rock against Knights though, just mine all got blown up, lol!
And yeah, seeing the global community grow is really incredible.
I love how the intro for the report was half the video. Shows how decimated Reece was in this game.
Yeah, I got dookied on, lol!
IK’s in mass make 40k so much fun… I am glad both armies had an equal chance at victory from the start of the game.
It looked a lot worse than it was, to be honest, had my Monolith come in I actually think I would have won the game. And, had my Knight killing unit not dies to a 6 on the Knight Explosion when they killed the first one, they easily would have gobbled up another. It was largely bad luck =)
How were you going to move the relic fast enough to get away from that IK any way? Teleporting the Relic is clearly a twist of the rules far beyond their intent. You can only ever go 6 inches with it, not “wink, wink, 6 inches,” with it.
Er, by cheating?! Lol, may have gotten my facts on this one mixed up, it was a long time ago, haha.
Dice rolling makes games so much not fun, sometimes they really swing the game badly to one side;P.
But seriously, even chess doesn’t have an equal chance of winning for both sides.[it’s also en masse but maybe you had bad spell check:)]
Player skill still has a huge part to play in winning games, I brought pure BA to last years LVO and got to within one placing [32 and 33] of this years result running tonnes of knights.
I probably would have lost badly to the scout shame finals list as his mobility and sheer number of units would have won him the day, very much a lopsided fight but I quite enjoy having the odds stacked against me:)
I wanted to bring a unique, beautiful and striking army to the largest 40k singles event in the world. I was never going to win it all but I wanted the games to be memorable….and fast[the lowest model count in the tourney sure helped with that:P]
I’ll be bringing pure BA next year, chances are it’ll have twice as many hull points in it, however:P
Congrats on the win Pascal!
We actually met briefly, in line at registration for the LVO. I’d be interested to know your thoughts on the new Blood Angel Codex.
I did not have much luck at LVO (ran into a whole gang of tau players) I have been experimenting with different lists ever since with not much success.
friend me on face book “pascal roggen”.
I’ve been running almost a highlander list with BA and a cullexis assassin and come 2nd and third[by .5 of a point argh] in the last two tourneys here including an 8 match nationals pile of crazy
Welcome to the team, Pascal!
Yep that was rough, but you played with what you had painted. If you got to run a list regardless of having the models ready what would your competitive necron list look like?
I am going to get a Ghost Arc put together, and I am actually thinking about running either the Praetorian or Destroyer Cult Formations!
destroyer cult formation is amazing!!!
I like using 3×3 units as a min with preferred enemy and re-rolls to pen and wound and ap3 weapons they are amazing and move through cover is the cherry on the cake !!
if you run the reclamation legion id also suggest lychguard!!
with a 3+/3++ and a 4+ re-rolling 1’s they are very durable and can help the warrior units out by being a buffer to stop charges or counter charge
the other idea iv had for a warrior unit is
warriors x20
with a cyrptek with chronometron
szeras
overlord with warscythe res-orb
lord with warscythe
zandrek
I think this would be an awesome unit to play around with
I love the new necrons the codex is great
where did your opponent (with that gorgeous army) get those great shield pieces to represent the arc on the shield of the knights?
Don’t know, Pascal is in the thread so he may be able to answer!
they were in the store, I can’t remember who made them:(. they look pretty and if your knight is perfectly stationary and facing forwards on a base they are perfect. Unfortunately I’ve modelled all of my knights to be able to swivel at the waist and then the shapes don’t match the parts of the oval base. Can be handy to remember which arc was chosen, but you can’t use it to measure most of the time.
Oh, wait, duh, you mean the acrylic pieces! I thought you meant the shields on Pascal’s models. Those are kits from Mechanical Warhorse! Carlos makes awesome kits for Knights, I have 3. They show where the shield is and how many hull points you have left.
Ummm, your warlord has to be a character, the Lancer I a low spot isnt one. And the quickening is only use able on characters.
Knights have a special set of rules allowing them to nominate a non-character model to be the warlord (who then gains character status.)
Yes and that knight still has to be from the actual knight detachment, so of he made the lancer from the group of 3 the warlord then all is good
Nope, he said it was in the ba detachment.
That’s not true, actually- if your army contains at least three Knights (regardless of how you selected them), you are allowed to nominate one as your warlord even if your army contains characters, and that Knight gains character status if you do so. It’s all in the Imperial Knights FAQ on GW’s site.
Ahhh, I just thought it was weird.
I feel for you Reece. I got my tush kicked in by a 4-knight list before. He sixed my deathstar and killed 3 characters with just 1 stomp!!!
don’t death star so much:)
I love and Respect Pascal’s Knight army, but I cry blood tears when it is referred to as a blood angels, I even overheard the story behind it. It’s okay to admit to admit that you are a knight player, only when we use that word does it become less of a dirty word.
I’ve played Ba since before angels of death and I took them to the Last LVO. A friend nagged me forever to start a new army and jokingly I thought, ha, knights I can have 5 models and be done with it. damn forgeworld:P
I ended up spending almost the entire year painting giant yellow bastards.
so when LVO rolled around again and I was actually in the running for best BA player[just barely, only got it as my main opponent bought illegal list to lvo] I thought, what the heck, it’ll be a laugh.
It’s just an odd artefact of list building that your primary detachment is where your warlord is no matter how small that detachment is.
There is a reason the picture for the bat rep has a knight on it rather than Ba;P
I’ve played a whole 3 tourney’s with knights and I’m glad I got to bring them to LVO at least once. They are pretty much in the apoc and display section of my hobby life[and also loaners to others] now.
Don’t worry next year I’m bringing pure Ba again[maybe with a culexus assassin:)]
I see it’s a bit more understandable, and I apologize, I was only tryig being tongue and cheek and not as a insult, Like I said I think your knights are amazing
Also, I didn’t know your history with blood angels and love to hear about your thoughts on the new book amd Blood angels since this first competitive season I am trying to become a tourney Blood angels player.
the nice thing is that there are so many paths to making a viable army.
You just have to keep in mind basic list/play guidelines.
How are you going to score objectives?, killing your enemy or just having to many units for them to stop
Do you know what units are going to mess your plans up in the opponents army?[know your enemy]
If you place objectives try and form a road map using the terrain to ensure you have cover when moving through it[for more assault lists]
How do you deal with death stars, especially psychic ones, collexus assassin in a storm raven/pod/rhino, have an army with so many units it doesn’t matter how much one unit kills etc etc have a death star yourself to clog them up.
how do you deal with flyers? movement, your own flyers or don’t care, I have too many units.
Movement is exceptionally key. you must have a reason for every movement you make, never just idly move forwards because it seems like what you should do.
there’s some blah’s for you 😉
