List Review
Did… Did you say new Nids?????
Yeah, that’s the rumor. We’ll see how it pans out!
It’s been the big talk over at tyranid hive for a couple days. Seems a legit source. Safe money is on something on par with the wraith knight or that will fill the ranged power shooting currently being done by hierodules (which should be done by a rupture cannon, but they suck).
Time will tell.
Yeah, nids need something to deal with knights. The heirodule is essentially it.
I’m thinking 5 wounds, T5, movement 6″, no fearless, no grenades, AP4, STR 7 or worse on the ranged weapons, and with a cool new rule like a 6++ in close combat if you kill 3 models from the same Codex in the same turn.
And the name will be “Slutzilla” or “Shameful Harlot”, and of course the model will be so big that you can draw LoS to it anywhere on the board…
for just under 200 points in the heavy slot!
My heart… My heart wants this…
It’s from Lords of War too – rumour stats are 6 for nothing! 6 weeks and counting!
New Assault Marines box? I guess I may hold off buying the 4 boxes then?
Eh, we’ll see. That one feels a little salty to me, but you never know.
It boggles the mind why they don’t sell apparel, they would make a bloody fortune!
Agree with the above… talk about leaving money on the table! wtf…
I 100% agree! I got a red , Chaos pantheon star shirt when I pre-ordered the Space Marine game (at GAMESDAY of all places) that I still wear to events.
Agreed 100%
Regarding your remark Reecius, about not wanting to take a Dark Eldar HQ.
As far as I can tell a model (or models) form the Archon Court count as HQ.
So you can take a 10 pts costing Lhamaean as your HQ.
It feels like it is wrong but I can’t find it anywhere.
Yeah, good point. The language is fuzzy, but it may be true.
So how’s about this thing that’s coming that Chaos players should be excited about? You mentioned it, rather cryptically, but I haven’t heard anything else.
any word on that? Is it no more than a rumor? Any more details you could tease us with?
So much awesome stuff, I honestly don’t know where to begin! You will be very happy.
IA: 13 contains –
“Included within are profiles and rules for more than twenty Chaos Space Marine vehicles, as well as
Chaos Titans and the armoured vehicles of the Heretics and Renegades – the mortal followers of the dark gods. These range from specialised variants of the mighty Land Raider to the heavily armed Chaos Thunderhawk Gunship, as well as extensive background material describing the war machines of the Chaos Space Marines and their mortal allies. It also provides a complete army list for Renegades and Heretics – the hosts of cultists, mutants and turncoat warriors, and their own range of armoured vehicles dedicated to the Ruinous Powers – which can be fielded as an army in its own right or used as a source of allies for the Chaos Space Marines.”
Basically it adds evil guard as it’s own list. The limited edition is up on forgeworld now. It also has rules for a slew of chaos vehicles!
Cool, I was wondering if that was the thing. That sounds pretty great, too bad it’s the price of a new rulebook.
It’s the limited edition, right now? Once that sells out, it should price drop a bit.
Dreadclaws are alive and well is the rumor… I hope they get a massive point decrease, Podding Chaos sounds like fun! (I think the drop pod is called the dreadclaw…)
I didn’t like the rules for them in the last IA book. Why can’t my chaos boys drop in normal like those emperor loving dogs?!?
Agreed- Making them nearly identical to the Marine variant would be awesome…
I’m also digging the rumor of the Sonic dread… but expecting it will look cool and be disappointing, lol
Yeah, that’s awesome. I love dreadclaws, but the problem is they definitely aren’t drop pods. And that’s both a weakness and a strength.
Firstly, chaos marines should have droppods. If you read the books, they had drop pods, and the fluff nazi’s keep a tight leash on this. Drop pods are easy to manufacture, and can be made by techmarines etc, using the same equipment used to maintain space marine power armour. So in short, most chaos warbands should have access to them. The fact that they don’t, is probably down to the chapterhouse stuff, more than anything else.
And that really hurts chaos, because there’s a lot of units that would make great use of it (5 plasma chosen, for instance).
The dreadclaw is actually for fleet engagements. I honestly, find it a little cringe-worthy that it’s considered capable of atmospheric flight. It’s not designed for atmospheric flight, and that makes no sense at all. The dreadclaws are supposed to be like awesome boarding torpedos, that chew their way in. Launched from fighter bays, rather than torpedo launchers.
They aren’t designed, for attacking ground forces at all! They should clamp onto a ship. Melta-chew their way in, voiding whatever rooms they’ve just got into. Cleared away anything not dead with frag launchers, and then the marines enter.
Honestly, FW should just release chaos marine doors for drop pods, and they call it a day and put it in the codex. They would sell a ton.
At 85 pts (this is the old rules), the dreadclaw costs a lot of points. It also doesn’t arrive until at best turn 2. And even then it has to go into “hover” mode to drop off troops. meaning that in most cases it’s turn 4 before you actually get anything out of your dreadclaw.
