I’m wondering how you think this list will work. The main weakpoints
are that the AA is lowish (not such an issue with our local meta), and
the hunters are both a large squad, and moving on without a dropship.
Plan is to push back with a turn 1 reaper drop at max distance (maybe
I’ll move reapers into the occupation patrol for that purpose) ,
followed by a turn 2 stalker drop as far forward as possible. Pressure
early comes from stalkers, reavers, desolator, prowlers. The ‘cavalry’
is my late game charge, bringing loads of demo and/or AT plasma.
Those arnt bezerker helmets, but world eater veteran heads for mk2 crusader marines in 30k
Ah, thanks for the clarification.
Totally unrelated: where is that GK battle report with Jim ?
:/)
Over at Dakka in the 40K Battle Report section.
the Axes are for Word Bearers who would use them to hack away at libraries/statues/effigies/idols/monuments to any secular/magical god who wasn’t the emperor, so yes a 30k variant of the firemans ax lol
Playing Scourge, I really think you need 4 units of infantry on 1500 pts. My standard is 2 squads with three units in each, 1 unit of warriors in an Intruder and a squad of destroyers in intruders. If you only have three units of infantry that can take objectives and find information in Recon and that you will feel a lot. Also Scourge infantry are pretty good at firing so in the missions where we are talking about focal points they are great at jumping into a building that isn’t within 6″ of a focal point and have a shootout for a couple of turns before claiming focal points.
Have you felt that the 9 hunters work? I have always been a little skeptical because we mostly play that units start in readiness but with direct deploy they should perform better. But taking only 6 would help a lot on the way to get another infantry group as well.
The AA should suffice.
Hi egge,
The scourge list is mine. I find nine hunters dominate in direct deployment. There’s no unit I’d rather have for a DD mission! Part of the compensation for the relative lack of infantry, is that in most games I’ll destroy their infantry and play for the long game. I’ve proxied this lost a few times, and while 9 hunters can be hard to use correctly, they are scary, and the demolish buildings like nobody’s business!
I have tried using only three units of infantry but have found four much better as they tend to draw lots of fire as well as being able to fire. It is very interesting you have so many AT units. I haven’t succeeded in my games in such situations (other than focal points). Pretty cool list.
Have you considered swapping the Reapers out for Ravagers? The Ravagers will give you a bigger bubble, which would be useful in this list since they are the only AA. It also gives you another Harbringer which can add another mini arc caster.
9 Hunters are scary and should help push the enemy back, allowing the infantry to get in and do what it needs to do.
I like the list, dunno if you need to change anything. I think Scourge can cope with lack of AA between numbers and how powerful their weapons are on the ground, but I do wonder if having the Ravagers would be beneficial, since Reapers lack a large AA bubble.
Hey Reece, whats your intial opinion in the new mega kustom kannon? STr 8 ap 2 small blasts on an artillery platform seems great for Orks!
Look awesome! I love the new Ork stuff, they look like fun and effective units!
You guys should tottally make the Best of IG plaque say “Best of Imperia-Astra Militarum”
Anyone else not able to hear Reece during the interview?
I found Jim hard to hear. Strain to hear Jim and brace yourself for Reece’s voice
I don’t think LotD and Stormtroopers are supplements any more than Inquisition is a supplement; they have some similarities to existing factions, but aren’t really part of them. (Unlike the “true” supplements, for example, they have explicit lists of which units they are allowed to take along with full unit entries for each of them.)
Also, in your Tau example (taking a Tau Empire HQ and a Farsight Enclaves HQ) you would be able to take up to nine squads of Crisis, wouldn’t you? Six as troops via Farsight and three as Elites via Tau?
Multiple CADs are extremely dumb. It’s all the problems of double FoC from last edition, but multiplied out over even more combinations. You would never bother taking an Allied detachment when you could just take another CAD and get more warlord options, more slots for spamming cheap units, etc. I’m definitely on board with not allowing them.
Is the BAO Friendly the same times of day as the BAO Open? They both are listed as Saturday/Sunday, but don’t really specify anything beyond that.
The Friendly and competitive are at the same time.
As for the Tau/Tau example you gave, that does seem to be accurate. I wrote GW to ask them if we are interpreting the wording in the BRB accurately as by RAW, it is quite clear but it creates these confusing situations as you pointed out.
Yeah, double CAD I think would be fun once in a while, but not as the norm, it just opens the door to too much craziness, IMO.
Also, I agree that Stomrtroopers don’t seem to be a supplement, but the BRB doesn’t list them as a Faction. It creates weird dynamics wherein we have some cases where we say BRB overrides codex but not in other cases. It causes a lot of confusion but that seems to be a byword for 7th ed, lol!
Nice interview with Jim at the end. Any idea when Warzone will be available to order in the online shop?
Thanks! And hopefully very soon, we are just waiting on Prodos and to recoup some money from the BAO and we will be rocking and rolling.
Reece
The argument against double CAD that it will turn away new players who get stomped isn’t really that great. Players can have the same experience against a single CAD tourney list.
I think double CAD might be fine under some of the restrictions Mike Brandt has suggested. Maybe something for the masses to consider the next tournament you guys have.
Fair enough, but I think simple logic dictates when you double the opportunities for taking the most powerful things it only increases the opportunities for very unfun games.
