          1. I’ve been playing my Eldar in team tournaments, and holy crap, is it point and click compared to my Grey Knights. I’ve got so many units with so much firepower, it’s not even funny. Especially when we bury anything that can threaten us in a massive pile of gargoyles and gaunts.

  1. Hay o just thought id point out another accidental rules cheat because thats what you do on the interwebs

The buff commander cant buff overwatch or interceptor fire
The twin link / ignores cover only works in the Shooting phase

  2. so not related to this game at all but anyone else see that escalation is a codex and not an expansion ie. expect it in normal 40K though for every 3 hull points a super heavy has it gives your opponent 1 victory point for killing it and also give your opponent +1 to seize the initiative

      1. Will the striking power of these units and defensively capabilities of the new fortifications help level the playing field with the big three armys I wonder.

  3. Ok so my 17 year old son has a Taudar army (cheesie little bastard that he is!). Thus I have played against that mayham many many times. At 17 he has only two things to occupy his mind: 40k and female panties. Being that he is somewhat shy, the first is his primary concern. That all being said, I have learned how to disassemble the taudar army. First off you are going to have to take a shot or two to the nuts…its going to hurt, bad. Just know that s coming and plan for it. Second, tau crumble in CC. It is absolutely imperative that you get in the fish mans faces and bust their chops. If you try to out shoot them, you WILL lose. They shoot better than any army…accept maybe shoota boyz orks.

Dogger, I know you love you some BA….Its their time to shine! Get a furiouso w/frag can and pod, and maybe sternguard or some tacs in a pod. You didnt use chapter tactics so i dont know if you are running pure SM or BA. If its BA get a second furioso. Anyhow, dump that sucker turn one in their face, use the pod as cover vs knights or tides, and make him react to you turn one. Use that turn to get the master and bikes into charging position. Turn two you will have one or two CC units tying up lots of gunzzz. Multicharge EVERYTHING, and make it run off the board.

Its like in MMA, tau are strikers. Your best bet VS a stricker is to grapple. It means you have to take that first one on the chin. But then you grab them, drag them to the ground and do nasty things to their fish parts. Otherwise you feel (as I said in another post) like you are doing the Harlem Shuffle while blue men shoot you with space bullets. You just gotta man up and bring them some fistacuffs yo.

      1. Ya, you can multi-charge the warriors. I mean they are all going to over watch you anyhow. I play eldar and have had my knight cause three squads to get tied up and be totally unable to harm him. It’s beautiful.

  4. Also, the Smart missile systems on the Broadsides are already twin-linked.
And tank hunter does work on intercepter though. Because the rule last until your next movement phase

  5. Hi.

Quick question: How did the Commander join the Riptide? Unless the Riptide had at least one shielded missile drone, an independent character can’t join a monstrous creature (rulebook page 39 – independent characters).

Greetings from Germany. Keep up the good work!

      1. Okay… at probably every German tournament your opponent would call a foul. Just the capability of the Riptide to form a unit with his drones wouldn’t be enough here. You actually have to buy them and represent it on the table.

My Chaoslord also has the option to get an invulnerable save but I still have to buy one if I want use it on the table. ^^

But if that is the common view in the US… good for you. 😉

        Cheers!

          1. I have the English rules. 😉 I guess you are referring to the part: […] They cannot, however, join vehicle squadrons or units that always consist of a single model (such as most vehicles and Monstrous Creatures). […] I wouldn’t empathize too much on the always but like I said: Common view in the US – good for you.

GW always messes up with the translation. This tends to be problematic because German is a very exact language. Sometimes GW even get point values wrong (shield generator for Tau 25 points – in the German codex 20 points) Therefore in big tournaments the judges use most of the time English rule sets and I decided to only buy them too since 6th edition.
Here you can see Buff-Commanders primarily in Broadsides with high-yield missile pods. Way more shots which profit from Monster / Tank Hunter. The Riptides get buffed by marker lights.

Another option for the Commander is joining him a Marker Drone squadron. 2+ to hit marker lights. ^^

            1. Ah, sorry, assumed you had the German version.

Yeah, the common interpretation here is that as the Riptide CAN be a unit, it counts. Lame!

But yes, the Buffmander with Drones, or Broadsides, or Crisis Suits, or Centurions, or Dark Reapers, or whatever…all good! I hate that Tau buffmander!!! haha

  6. German…. English…. No matter the language, these rules are so very often an unclear affair. The one thing that I’m sure we can all agree on is that Reece and Frankie kiss like they’re from France.
