Looks like a good game, but Frankie made some crazy mistakes getting Vect and the Wraithlord killed… I don’t see why that wraithlord wasn’t just bouncing around somewhere safe and pushing two S10 shots into monstrous creatures all game…
Dark Eldar are a really rough match up for nids though, so if your opponent hands it to you by accident, you need to grab every advantage you can get!
Yeah geoff wanted to give up on turn two so I moved vect towards the swarm lord since it was over and moved the wraithknight closer. I still thought I would be in good shape with those deaths but was excited to play on my back foot. Geoff made some great tactical moves and they paid off glad he didnt quit as it was a lot of fun.
yeah, Frankie could have put the nail in the coffin turn 2 but chose not to to make the game more fun and it was! Geoff got to see how to beat DE as that is by far the worst match-up for Nids. It was a better game that way.
Fair enough. Oddly, I have written a list recently that gave at least one good DE opponent trouble. I played in a store tournament against Tau, Eldar and Dark Eldar and decided to switch out a lot of my regular toys.
6 biovores and 6 hive guard, an armoured shell tyrant with venom cannon and devourers, Flyrant with devourers and the standard double tervigon scoring.
The VC tyrant w/ shell is more survivable against poison shots than the swarmlord and does more damage. Venom cannons have almost no downside against DE – they have a long enough range to not care about night shields and they pen venoms on a 2+… it’s almost like they’re designed for shooting venoms!
Once the vehicles pop, you can start a pizza delivery service with a couple of squads of biovores cowering behind cover. The remaining venoms and transports really won’t want to charge the hive guard lines…
So you can make a nid list that works against DE, but you end up with fewer tools for dealing with the other important stuff in the game – I think it would have trouble with demons, and as it stands it gets murdered by land raider spam, but swapping in some zopes fixes one of those.
Yeah, Frankie is known for his generosity. Take, for example, his game against my daemons (this was way early in 6th before the new daemons even came out):
fun battle report. Great to see another dark eldar player making use of Vect. Best character in the codex, price tag scares a lot of people away.
Im hoping the new tyranid codex is really broken and tons of people jump on it. Because they really do need charity to beat dark eldar so it will only help us if they become immensely popular.
Yeah, should’ve hid that Flyrant until you could present multiple threats simultaneously. Flying that guy up by himself is almost always a bad decision. Doubly so against DE. Live, learn, etc. Way to Forge the Narrative!
Well, in his defense, InControl is still pretty new to 40K. He’s still got a lot to learn….but what better way to do it than to beat DE with bugs! 😀
Good game. I love those bumblebee nids. Not at all the best list to take against Dark Eldar, which already have an RPS advantage over nids but glad to see them pull it out. I’ve been thinking of a list to take you on with no charity, Frankie. I’ve got some ideas. Get ready, cuz I may drive up for the challenge 🙂
Oh irony (tyr vs D eldar?!?!)
This is what I like about some random in the game!
Nice move about Vec Frankie, you got points for sportmanship there.
Great battle report guys!, this one got me jumping up and down! (nid player here:)).

I think that is a solid list, there. I typically only take a single Tervie myself, but otherwise I like that list.

Vect is a beast, I agree. Frankie always uses him and I have learned to fear that SOB!
When I saw “Nids for DE” my mind went OH GOD.

You should definitely take a swing at Frankie!

It was fun to watch in RL, too! Great game.
