HEY EVERYONE, THE FELLAS GOOFED AND SCOUT MOVED TOO CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER AND I (REECIUS) DIDN’T NOTICE IT DURING EDITING. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION. In this Warhammer 40,000 video battle report, Frankie busts out his Feast of Blades Daemons and Chaos list against Capt’n Dee’s White Scars with Dark Angels allies in a 2,000pt game!
this realy shows how big a difference going first with a scar army is to going second . enjoyable to watch despite the scout mistake, but with those move distances its not a massive problem.
Yeah, the speed of each army meant it was largely a moot point, but still, we don’t want to confuse anyone, either.
Yeah, the Bikes really need to go first as they are so fragile due to low model count.
Yep, our bad. Only my second game with Khan and I can’t recall a game I’ve really ever played where both armies have Scout.
That’s why we practice these game before a tournament!
I think I gave him a good fight despite being seized. The hellturkey just did the right amount of damage to kill Khan and the Apoth, and then losing the Libby to the Warpstorm was pretty demoralizing and hard to fight through.
Such is life of a 40k gamer!
Scout denial is one of the reasons I’ve toyed with running a small unit of Rangers.
Sticking them in a central terrain piece stops Marine bikers scouting up as they can’t go within 12 of the Infiltrated Rangers (Infiltrate is before Scout).
Not sold on it unless White Scars become ubiquitous but if they do it’ll sure save some Wave Serpents from turn 1 pain.
I think you and a lot of folks will be going that route. It really helps keep the pressure off and allow you to shoot other targets that need to be dealt with.
Thats why white scars and wolfs go together like penut butter and jam (jelly) – you get a chooser to help with that (as well as the grav gun.jaws combo)
Yes, I agree that that is a great combo.
Even though the demons stole initiative, not a big deal. Hit and run not used? Almost looked like the drake also flew in further than allowed? Bike how needs a way for invulns or fnp too.
Dan failed a number of Hit and Run checks, I think he just forgot to mention it.
That and first turn nuking of Fateweaver would be priceless!
We all hope to witness it! He disappears in a cloud of feathers!
This reminded me of about how half my games tend to go. Fateweaver just ends up doing everything. He’s the hardest working model in 40k right now; he needs a raise.
Yeah, and the funny thing is people felt that he was terrible when the book dropped! Hahah, he is by a mile the best HQ in that book, arguably the game. I curse his name!
Hey Dan, How does it feel to get seized on??
He seized on me at the Golden Throne with his Tau and just obliterated my bike army in one turn.
Hehe ya I have mentioned that game several times when talking about the bikes. It can go pretty terribly.
But you luck was even worse because it was Tau who were shooting of course, and if I recall the Apoth died from like the first blast, which meant the bikes lost that extra resiliency.
He seized on my Footdar with his Tau and handed me one of my only 2 losses, and just curb stomped me, too! I was damn near tabled! Tau seize and it is just brutal.
I see 2 mistakes in this game, 1 minor and the other major.
Minor mistake – Morale Support is if there are 5+ non-combatants watching a challenge. So that means no re-roll for Abaddon as there was only 4 seekers in that battle watching.
Major mistake – no charging 1st turn only applies to the units that scouted. That means when Dan’s bikes scouted up, Frankie’s seekers could still assault them. I can’t really tell from the video whether they were in range however, but Frankie forming a screen with his dogs suggests to me that he probably thought he couldn’t assault with them and wanted to protect them….but maybe I’m wrong here.
I think Frankie had one cultists also in the combat. That’s the cultist that then killed a bike the next turn when I charged with my Command squad.
Yes I think he could have assaulted those guys, but I think he was thinking of swing around the other flank.
But total oops on the scouting too close. We both hadn’t played a ‘both of us have scouting units’ for quite some time!
Cool. I missed that. Thanks.
I agree. The fellas goofed a few times. Dan should have not scouted, then assaulted turn 1, but oh well, live and learn.
