These are some seriously juicy rumors from a source that has proven to be VERY reliable in the past!
Please excuse the grammar and spelling errors, I am quoting this directly.
Well apparently they are going to break up the dex so it’s not ultra marines heavy, they will have more generic characters then bring out expansions with characters and paint jobs for different chapters, same with the Eldar
So you buy the codex, then get the white scars expansion that gives you upgrades, characters etc. Now this fist come from my [deleted] buddy, it came from another source, but he seems to think that it going to happen.
So according to him the Eldar dex is coming out then there will a Ithilian (spelt wrong) expansionYou will need both books to play with themThis will also happen with the SM
Also there will be a integration of some things from FW into the new dex (weapons mostly) to expand on the current system. As well as a lot more upgrade options, givin ou a tone more flexibility with your lists (like the tau, demons crons did) All these dexes are bringing the game up to 6th Ed rule standard.
So ALL the dexes will be upgraded before they are done (GK, IMPS, NIDS, ORKS, SISTERS, BA, BT) But (if the ruinous are true) then the expansions will work with the dex for Imp Fist, White Scars, Ultramarines, etc. This is not official, my mate from [Deleted] [deleted] says they are gearing up For the next HH book (coming out Xmas) so will keep you posted on that, but it had Corax, Vulkan, the Gorgon as the three primarchs.
Plus a load of new awesome mecanicum, oh plus they have released a new Titan above a war lord but not a emporer, but for the life of me can’t remember the name.
Comes out in the battle of calth(The big ultramarine planet the word bearers invade)
Will let you knowHH book is scheduled for next year, Xmas will see mortarion An I think that’s about ItThe FW stuff I true The SM rumors are rumors But sound very plausible
Oh prob going to be a large Contemptor dread as well.
That sounds pretty awesome and very plausible! We’re seeing that Iyanden supplement codex for Eldar now, and it makes sense that GW would put out Chapter specific books as it is easy money, particularly if they are digital only.
This also ties in with the rumors we were told at the beginning of 6th that there would be supplemental codices coming out, and this ties right in with those mini-dex rumors.
Also, I am salivating at the idea of a giant, super Contemptor like the Riptide or Wraithknight! How cool would that be? And you know that would be a big money maker for GW, too.
I will report more as I get it! And if anyone out there has any juicy rumors they’d like to send out way, I can be reached at: Contact@FrontlineGaming.org
I’ll forgive spelling errors in the post, but not the one from you! ‘coold’ hahaha
Sounds really awesome. I know I’m just being milked for cash, but if I can play my guys the way I’ve always wanted, then I think I’m OK with that. 🙂
Haha, fair enough, spelling fixed!
I want my Ultramarines and more Titans!
So this really has become development in reverse?
2nd to 3rd, we went to more streamline rules and compact codices, smaller books 3rd to 4th, they started eliminating the addon codices
5th to 6th they have the rules more complex, with more dice rolling pre-game than the actual game some days, back to big beefy codices, and now the return of addons?
Did they thaw out a developer put in stasis in the 80s? Should we expect all future models to have big glam rock hair?
It’s great that we got Tau and then their two battle brothers in the next codices, makes army planning more pleasant
The “supplement” better damn well be packed with stuff… rules, fluff, pictures, painting guides, the whole nine yards.
We’ll see how it all measures up once the Eldar Supplement is released, all I’m saying is it better be good for costing the same as the codex AND you need the codex to play it. It just seems kinda awkward… “Here’s your rules, see we listened to you; and we’re giving you…the player… what you always wanted! BUT, you need to use [Codex] to play them as well so pay again please!! 🙂
I’m waiting for actual releases to have any kind of informed opinion, I could be totally blown away by the supplement idea… and I’m hoping for that. It just looks sketchy at the moment.
Chris
I hate to say it (well not really), but GW’s track record with supplements is fairly poor. I expect the supplement will be 80% garbage and about 20% useful information, which they are grossly over-charging for.
I expect to be horribly disappointed, and I’m worried they won’t sell well being so terribly priced. Which GW will probably then use as an excuse to kill the idea and not do anymore.
I tend to agree. However, if that 20% is Legion/Chapter/Craft World Specific rules? I am in.
So, My SM are White Scars, So i will have to pay an extra 50$ for a supplement on a device i dont own?
Sigh
Well, we’ll see. I think looking at that Iyanden supplement will really help to shed light on this rumor and show us how to interpret it.
You are making a logical fallacy based on a few white dwarf pics. Just because one page shows the Iyanden supplement as a digital product does not mean its exclusively a digital product.
Most release lists like the one below have the supplement listed and they list it as ‘range’, so its not a splash or available while supplies last (awsl) thing.
http://faeit.blogspot.com/2013/05/june-releaes-chaos-marine-bikers-necron.html
Now what is conflicting is what the Iyanden supplement really is, as several rumors have said the supplement has no affect on lists. Personally at $50 I suspect it will affect lists in some way but will have to wait and see.
Our rep just told us it’s a physical book, too, so touche. However, it is Direct from GW only, so boo.
What this does is give me hope that we will get Legion Specific chaos rules, too! Please let that be true, please!!!! haha
I have heard several times that these books do have rules.
World eaters supplement with small brass scorpion?
Emperors children with noise terminators and fallen phoenix guard? O.O! I want I want! Let it be true.
Right? Still a long way off before we know if this stuff is true, but one can hope.
All our hopes are on that supplement.
I really don’t think you are going to see a supplement like this for CSM. They are already doing the “original legions” with the Horus Heresy books. It makes no sense at all to produce the same material twice.
I feel like I’m being so negative here. Sorry. I just have really low expectations from anything GW now. :/
Fair point although the HH stuff is a different game. They could easily increase revenue by producing these supplemental books with additional fluff, art and rules for running legion armies (and they are post heresy in this case, too so still different) for people wanting to run their own Legions.
Wait, what’s this about an Eldar supplement? Is that GW official?
Yes, but we can’t get it. It is GW direct only. Digital and hard copy.
This whole idea seems prettttty clever to me- like a lot of moves since late 5th edition.
Basically they can make supplements cheap and easy and sell them for a LOT more than the effort they put in. Then they can use those supplements to sell model ranges that are out of sequence- like sneaking in a space marine release or two in between big xeno codex reboots.
It takes a lot of boom/bust cycle issues out of their modeling and tooling side of the business, which is their big expense and time suck. Now they can have guys working on one range, all the time, and slowly drip out the releases to make money on the range near constantly, as opposed to in big six year bursts.
PLUS if they are just packaging an upgrade sprue with regular models like tacticals or whatever, once they shut down bits resellers they will be able to bring the entire supplement business in-house and get a bigger share of profit by only selling it retail. With such a crowded release schedule and the niche nature of the supplements, I doubt a lot FLGS will carry them. More money for GW with less effort.
They are basically leveraging here the fact that what people REALLY want is rules and fluff, which are almost free for them to make– while they keep their IP branded by releasing fewer models which consumes less resources and prevents us from playing with inifinity models or marbles or curiously shaped rocks or whatever.
Like a lot of GW things of late, I think it’s a canny move– good for the player and the business.
It’s almost like they know what they’re doing….scary thought.
… almost.
How will GT’s treat these supplements? Will they allow them or not.
I just hope the White Scars one doesnt ban them from Allying with DE, I want to do my fluff breaking army
We have to see if it is even true, first. I think the Iyanden supplement will tell us a lot.
I try to have an open mind… but why on earth would you want a white scar / DE army? Why not a blood angel / Black legion army?
