Well thanks Reece for making me look like the biggest whiner ever lol. Trust me that any competitive gamer in my position would not have enjoyed the majority of the games I played. Much like your first few reactions to Frankie’s harliestar. It’s alright though because I did learn a HUGE lesson from the current meta of a grand scale tournament scene and I already have a list I am going to start practicing with. As far as the Collossus goes I thought it was a forgeworld model as I have never seen it used before and I wasn’t complaining at all about it but rather used it as an example of one of the many “ignore cover” units I went against.
Noah, I wasn’t trying to make it sound like you were complaining at all, just bringing up some of the negatives people mentioned. Sorry if I came across that way, I really didn’t mean to. I can empathize with the feeling though man, I know it well. I went to the BSB two years ago and got my ass beat down by almost everyone I played! haha, worst tournament showing I have ever had, it sucked.
As for the Colossus, again, I wasn’t trying to make you feel dumb at all, I just wanted to be sure to clarify that as people hate on FW (not saying that is you specifically, just in general) and that happens a lot. They see a unit that don’t recognize and assume it is FW. I just like to clarify that stuff because then people don’t have misconceptions.
Ignore cover is like the new hot thing and it is brutal for armies like Orks. I think Ork players are really going to have to rethink their game plan as you have noticed. I am sure you will get a solid counter going, you are a good player. This GT was just a bit of a shock from the sounds of it.
I think orks are still really competitive in tournament play, despite all those cover-ignoring guns. As a matter of fact, I think a ork army done right and run by a good general has the potential to win this in spite of all the helturkeys and Forgeworld stuff.
Greater daemons are crazy good going up to s10 t10 with biomancy is insanity! But….leave them at home for room for 8 heralds of nurgle with exalted rewards. This allows for you toke the hell forged artifacts portal glyph, not one per army. Once per game this allows for 8 armor 12 all sides 1 hp Summon d6 daemons of your choice from troops on a 4+. Average of 15-25 extra models per turn so you score/contest objectives for only 600 points. Have 2-3 hard hitting units for diversions and thats a solid list.
Congrats on a fun runned tournament. I am hopeful I can make it next year.
I know who the Wolf Brothers are but who are the Sac City Punishers? Why haven’t people heard of them before? it sounds like from the Podcast quite a few of them did well. You said one of them got fourth, is that the DE guy? I am interested as I play IG/SW and crush any DE guy that comes close to me. my buddy plays DE and just has no shot. I am interested to hear what he ran. Did he run Harliestar? Did he venom spam it up?
It is good to see a woman do well in a tournament and not have them feel the back burner anymore as well. Plus, she will be the last winner with the Daemon Codex in a major GT, which is quite an accomplishment. Look forward to the BAO 2014 and where it will be held!
SCP Yeeman is the DE player, he posts here obsessionally so he may pop in.
He used 2 Void Ravens, Venoms and a n assortment of foot troops. Can’t say exactly what, though.
The Sac City Punishers are a team of players out of Sacramento, they are really good they just don’t tend to travel to events that much which is why a lot of people have not heard of them. They did really well at the BAO this year (as in years past).
We formed just last year as an official “group.” We do mostly play out of Sacramento and have began travelign this year. So of our older members have traveled across the US and been to multiple events.
We went to Golden Throne in August last year and the BAO this year. 3 of us are (including me) are going to the Bugeater GT in Omaha at the end of May.
Oh and if your buddy needs some tips on how to beat you, I can definately help him out. 🙂
GREEN STUFF INDUSTRIES IS FANTASTIC! That is how i made alllll the tentacles in my army!
Yeah, Rich is a super cool guy, too!
Reece said I’m super cool! That’s like winning the Nobel Prize! That’s like having warm honey poured all over… uhhhh, I digress… sorry.
Thanks guys! It’s really satisifying seeing all the great stuff you guys come up with. Turns a crappy day at my real job right around.

BTW, the event was even better than last year, even with the problems you had. Well done Frontline!

You can only take 4 heralds per primary FOC.
And Limits of 1 Hellforged Item per Army of the same type.
Lol guess that’s what I get for not reading the fine print. I have a feeling nurgle with csm nurgle will be very popular still

I posted my list in the other spot.

I’ll keep that in mind, but I’m no pushover so you just might have to put your money where your mouth is. He could use some help.
We’re from Michigan. 30 minutes west of the hellhole formerly known as Detroit.
Cheers,
Ken
Ah, thanks! I couldn’t remember for the life of me.
