Wow, what a crazy ride!! I was about to have a heart attack the first day due to registration delays, but we got things back on track.
It was crowded, loud, hectic, and fun! We grew too fast and we were under-staffed, but we ended just barely behind schedule after a late start.
Fantasy had 50 players! 40K had 144! Wow, what a big increase over last year!
I am still just trying to get my head screwed back on after all the craziness. Thanks so much to all the guys that helped set up and break down as that is a HUGE task and the help was much appreciated.
Big news, of course, is that a female won the 40K championships! Liz Foster, a local girl who is a very good player and a cool person, went toe to toe with some EXCELLENT players, every single round. She faced Alan Bajromovic in the finals (winner of the ET singles and WargamesCon), and defeated him in a GREAT game. There was a huge crowd watching, and everyone was cheering with every roll of the dice, it was so much fun! She is the FIRST truly undefeated (7-0) player we’ve ever had at the BAO, so that is momentous in more than one way!
In the end, Liz pulled it off, and won. The first girl to win a major, competitive GT (to my knowledge), and she did it the hard way, fighting through some tough comp. Well done Liz! Way to break the gender stereotype! Alan, a Zero Comp Teammate and a fierce competitor, took the loss in stride and played the game like a true gentleman, a smile never leaving his face even in defeat. The Belt of Russ, our super, over-the-tops, WWF style “masculine” trophy was won for the first time by a girl! Hahaha, that is awesome!
The narrative guys played a great game too, with so many awesome, beautiful models, it was crazy! Looked like a great time.
In all, we had some serious issues with logistics this year (we grew too fast this year), we will fix those problems. We’re focusing on turning the weaknesses we had this year into strengths next year. What we get criticized on now, we will be complimented on next year!
Thanks to everyone for coming out, we plan to only improve, grow and get more fun as time goes by!
Any and all criticism is welcome, send me a PM, post it here, come in the store, whatever. Help us to see how we can improve our game and make our events better!
Thanks, and another one under our belt! Results will go up tomorrow.
Oh god, plz tell me you have a pic of her with that giant belt on. XD
Just seen it on the blood of kittens blog 🙂
This is what a good nights rest at Ramada will do for you. Congratulations on the big win Liz.
Reporting in from the War machine/Hordes event, we had a much smaller turn out of only 8 players with brothers Brian and Sean Egger taking 1st and 2nd followed in 3rd by Ben Curley. Let’s get this thing back to its former self next year.
Wrath check out BoK for pics, and congrats Liz we’ve only met once in rawdoggers 1 episode campaign, but yours remains my favorite themed army i’ve ever seen in person.
HAHAHHAHAH tyty. =D
What army was she playing? Please tell me she was playing something that the internet says can’t win.
27 flamers and 27 screamers….so no.
Actually that wasn’t her list…

Great job Team Zero Comp! Don’t let a little growing pain get you flustered and there is certainly no need to apologize. Grats again to Liz! Thank you very much for the great time.
Great job Reecius !!!
Great event, Reece and Frankie (and Keno, and Pascal, Jason, Joel, Seth, and etc.)! A very impresively fun event even with the growth issues. Thanks for letting me be a part of it.
Now, when’s the Vegas thing?
Confused… Is Liz the first Girl to win a major competitive GT, or the first Women?
Great Thanks to Frontline and Zero Comp, that was an excellent event!
HOWL for Liz Foster and the Sac City Punishers!!!
Howl for the Wolf Brothers! You guys did great at the tournament and came in full-force!
Thanks Reecis for an excellent 40 k team tournament and singles tournament I had a blast in both. Cant wait to come next year. gotta defend that Belt title! Thanks again to all my good sportsman like competitive opponents and all the people who cheered me on the way, it was rather awesome. Thanks guys!
Well done, Liz!! Can’t wait to have you back!
Great time. Great event!
I am happy that my group (Sac City Punishers) came down and represented very well! I am still exhausted from the weekend and sitting here at work is no bueno.
It was nice to see everyone together at one BIG event and be able to put faces to many names. The level of competition was top-notch and all of my opponents were awesome (yeah, even the Zero Comp guys).
Overall, best tournament experience I have had. Thanks!
Rae from up here in Seattle won Best General back in like 2004 at the official GW Seattle GT.
In any event, congrats to Liz. Any chance we could see her list?
Oops, I should’ve read the comments first. GO GO Daemons.
Thanks again guys for a great tournament, and Congratulations to Liz for making history!
Thanks, gang, for the weekend and the good times.
Misogynist (and pervert) that I am, my favorite part of the event was watching that belt, clearly designed for the bulk of a three-hundred pound dude, going around that long & narrow waist!
Reece and crew Zero Comp, thank you once again for throwing such an awesome event,
schedule and delay aside it was a true BLAST, I’ve played Liz at 1500, so there was no
bloodthirster, but felt like my 30 melta’s where wasted on her particular army(I happened to win
that game, before letting Franky and Will duke it out for the title(bye losing to both their cheesy
armies)), very fun type of player to boot, the very best of sportsladies, I am afraid I got a little
wasted and flailed around be 6pm sat, but Cody’s(one of Liz’z Sac Punisher teamates) round
three victory over me ultimately lead to his defeat at the silly tickling tendrils of this wonderful
female general daemon hoard, fickle fickle FATE
hats off to Liz for an amazing show of luck and definitely the least smelly person in the room,
also I believe its noted in the article that she had a truly difficult schedule from the start and is
the only undefeated champ of the tourney to date!!!!
