What’s that you say? GW made an update that made things unbalanced and are selling a bunch of new models? Then they are going update it in a few months to fix it all? GASP!
I had to play the two Tzeentch Daemons at Feast of Blades. Both were very hard games and I was lucky to tie one of them.
My kingdom for Null Zone those games…
I didn’t know you went to Feast! Awesome, glad you had fun. And yes, Null Zone!!!! Haha, that is one of the Space Mrines aces in the hole. That and Gate are two of the best utility Psychic powers in the game.
Ah no not Feat (brain fart) I meant Brawl in the Fall. Clearly I was not quite awake this AM!
Also I see the Daemons got a Faq update today, too bad it is in German.
Haha, it’s all good. I played them too, and the only reason the game was close was because 2 of the 3 Flamer squads misshaped coming in.

I think you got the rules slightly miffed on the Screamers. Their fly over attack is D3 S4 AP- hits, though in melee they do cause 3x S5 Ap2 Armour Bane attacks, striking at I4, which is just absurd.

That was my roommate that won. What put him ahead of the other daemons was actually not using fateweaver. When all of your models can fly from board edge to board edge, fateweaver can’t be everywhere at once. Why pay 333 pts to keep a few models alive longer when you can just have more undercosted models? That’s what our testing showed.
In the finals, having the screamer advantage (27 to 18) won him the game. It allowed his screamer units to kill Gareths in assault bc they were bigger.
Right now daemons just have sooooo many wounds worth of models you have to kill. You MUST focus on flamers first and try to tarpit the screamers. Send little one man units (barbecue remnants) at the flamers after the alphastrike to soak up the overwatch before sending a real unit at them to finish them in cc. Then hope you have enough time to kill some of their troops. Not easy.
These DA rumors sound prety awesome. Theres a lot of WS 5 runnin around. Not thrilled about that. but if there priced more then… I am ok with it. Sems like they are really trying to make DA a very different playstyke to the SM book, which is not only nice, but necessary if you are going to spend the time/money to produce a whole codex. I like the shooty terminators. With plasma canons maybe? Awesome. I love me some plasma. If they get a large troop capacity flyer though and CSM didnt that is just messed up.
Yeah, I am happy to see the Dark Angels getting a unique style. They have done a good job making Wolves, BA, and Vanilla really different, and now if they can do it with DA too, that is great, IMO.
Wouldn’t grey knights do amazing vs deamons have strike squads do warp quake and interceptors do their jump and do warp quake to cover the whole field and have coatez with a powerful unit at shooting to do I been expecting you.
Only if they go first. If they don’t, they get owned just like anyone else. And, Screamers can deep strike outside of Warp Quake, and then use their Turbo Boost attack to come in and hit folks. Grey Knights are still really good against Daemons, no doubt, but the new Tzeentch daemons are insane for the points. They will get changed though, I am willing to bet money on it.
you can also spread out the guys 2 inches apart from each over and the adds on 10 more inches in a 5 man squads and warp quake is a 12 inch radius from any member so a 5 man squad can cover 32 inches 2 provent deepstriking, and lets just if they are in a straight line, so image bigger squads all u need is 4 or maybe 3 squads to cover the whole table.
If Grey Knights go first they can definitely kick the Daemons in the nuts, no question.
I fought a flamer-heavy list with my crons. It was my 2K wraithwing against 2200pts of daemons (yes I gave him a handicap because I was a much more experienced player)……and he took 44 flamers!
Anyways, wraiths don’t care too much about both flamers and screamers. Even if they were to charge a unit of 9 flamers, that’s average 14 hits, 7 wounds, 2 failed inv’s, 1 dead wraith. The trick is to try and kill them on their turn. Kill them on your turn and the other flamers will flame you on their turn and that would be deadly.
My other tactic was to split off my Destroyer Lord just before the assault. I then charge my D-lord in first. He may get wiped out by the overwatch, but then he gets back up on a 4+ (yeah res orbs which I take as standard equip on my D-lords). Then wraiths can charge in free from overwatch.
But in the end, the best way to take them out is just a massive amount of firepower. Like 3 annihilation barges and 4 night scythe’s worth of firepower. I ended up losing almost all my wraiths, both D-lords, 2 scythes and 1 barge, but I wiped out all his flamer and much of his army in the process. More importantly, I got the win.
I think those are both sound tactics. Tzeentch Daemons are quite good, but they aren’t game breaking at all.
I think what will aid most players more than anything else is just exposure to them and experience.
