Yes, sadly, Zerkers are base 1 attack, used to be base 2. They have rage and counter attack, but those ar eonly good for the first round of combat. All they have over basic CSM are WS5 and fearless. But, you can make CSM fearless with a character and the decrease in WS is totally offset by being cheaper.
So far, I am thinking Zerkers are nerfed pretty soundly. They just cost too much for what you get.
What annoys me about the ‘Zerker nerf is the fact they aren’t at least on par with Death Company
Surely an astartes that’s given in to the power of Khorne should be at least equally effective as an astartes that’s suffering a mental breakdown?
Are ‘Zerkers more expensive than DC, because that would be a slap in the face?!
Yeah, it is pretty lame. I really am not seeing why you would use them at this point unless you play 4+ armies all the time….even then, they’re not so hot.
I was hoping for a very well-balanced codex, but it seems like this is what a bunch of people will call OP 🙁 I don’t like the idea of some things being significantly better than others, because that makes building a fluff-bunny list less competitive. but it is what it is.
poor Berzerkers.
seems to favor Nurgle a lot
WTF?! spawns are GOOD?! better roll that up on Eye of the Gods
Yay for evil triumphing over good! Knew Abaddon would surpass Draigo!! 🙂
Yay for Huron Blackheart, he needed that. but more importantly, Ahriman is awesome!! yay Tzeentch armies!! 😀
Demon Princes are CRAZY!! same points cost as the Swarmlord, probably way better
But the Swarmlord has Bonesabres, which are still amazing. He’ll still beat a Daemon Prince, I would imagine (just a speculation, based on what we saw leaked).
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that, it’s just that they certainly do not seem to be worth the points as they stand right now. Basic CSM’s can serve the same role way cheaper and nearly as effectively.
The Kelly is the man, it just has to be said. I’d say he should get promoted to be grand macdaddy overseer of 40k development but then I’d miss his codexes. The SW and DE codexes are masterpieces IMO, hoping this is more of the same!
Kharn is King Shit on turd island! Such a beast! He is basically a lawn mower combined with a Chaplain. He makes his unit better and he just walks through damn near anything.
In the Blood Angels Codex, they were never mentioned as chapter who partook in the defense of Terra.
In the CSM codex, they are never mentionned nor do they even mention that when the World Eaters assaulted the Breach, the Khan and his Legion made a counter-charge and exit that lead to the retaking of the Space Port allowing the Blood Angels and the Emperor to teleport on to Horus Barge.
Yeah, White Scars have been denied their place in the fluff!
I just put in my order for 60 Mantic zombies. Now all I have to do is buy enough happy pills to endure painting 60 zombies without becoming one myself.
Nice catch! I didn’t see that. 10 man units are still quite good, though, and all you need for an objective holding unit, but won’t serve as giant blobs.
I am not looking forward to the future Chaos /Guard List where the opponent has literally 300 models on the board.
With Typhus and Plague Zombies mixed in with Conscripts you still have plenty of room to take a lot of units to shoot your opponent to the ground. Oh and they can essentially never be reached! Because there is a sea of bodies in front of them.
What happens to flyers when they have no where to land? Like NO WHERE!
I like the book a lot and I think it offers several different lists but this one is by far the least favorite to see across the table.
Flyers that can’t land, die. It’s happened already in competitive play against Orks and Nids. You fill the board, and auto-win.
Yeah, the fearless, FnP horde of Zombies is going to be very, very tough. Armies need to have anti infantry weapons in spades to deal with it. Ideally, high rate of fire, high strength weapons like scatter lasers and multi lasers as these will also be good against flyers and light mech.
Also, units that can rip through blobs of infantry with a high number of attacks such as fiends, death company, etc. will be really useful to clear out those big units.
Lol at Axe of blind rage wtf Phil, less crack. Requires the MoK which gives rage already….. Why would I want an axe that nerfs my skill to get…..RAGE AGAIN!!!! Hahaha….
Ally epi with typhus and put typhus in a 35 man normal cultist unit and use the hive to instantly acquire tally..
Spawns are gross btw… 5 MoN spawns is only 180 for 15 T6 5++ wounds that moves 12″…. Yea awesome! 5d6 s5 attacks….
Any chance of this being on iTunes?
Oops, there it is. This should be better than the impressions from the first presidential debate….
Haha, very, very true.
Is this confirmed that Berzerkers are dropped to one attack? Whats the point? Axes+bolt pistol doesn’t make them 2 base?

Are we also forgetting that zerkers have only pistols and no ranged upgrades?
Khorne marked marines will still have bolters and options to buy melta/plasma or combis, correct?
They can have bolt pistol/ccw and Bolter, yes.

Swarmy is still a boss amongst bosses! (And you guys done with mine, yet?) no worries there.
I think this will be a great codex, and you can build a fluffy army and do quite well on my first read through.
Cameron will be very sad in that his Khorne Berzerkers were smashed in the face by the nerf hammer. 🙁

Totally agree! He is hands down, the best codex writer.
4 Heavy Bolter Havocs with a Tzeentch Icon….
Mantic Zombies are going to fly off the shelves. 60 zombies for 34 pounds.
Thank Khorne, Kharn is badass.
Ahriman – rightfully, one of the best psychics in the game.
Man, I cant wait.
Kharn is King Shit on turd island! Such a beast! He is basically a lawn mower combined with a Chaplain. He makes his unit better and he just walks through damn near anything.
This seriously is going to be a great book!
THEY RET-CONNED WHITE SCARS OUT OF THE SIEGE OF TERRA!
Wait, what? I didn’t catch that. Did they remove them or not mention them?
In the Blood Angels Codex, they were never mentioned as chapter who partook in the defense of Terra.
In the CSM codex, they are never mentionned nor do they even mention that when the World Eaters assaulted the Breach, the Khan and his Legion made a counter-charge and exit that lead to the retaking of the Space Port allowing the Blood Angels and the Emperor to teleport on to Horus Barge.

That is weak! I had not noticed that.
Don’t worry ML, you’ll see when FW gets around to the Siege, White Scars won’t be left out!
Let this be true! I love the White Scars, it would be criminal to remove them.
Also Reecius, a roll of 1 on the Daemon Weapon doesn’t mean you can’t swing. It means you are WS1 but still get to fight.
Really? I thought I read that a 1 means that they only get hit, that is how I read it anyway. But, I’ve been wrong before, haha!
I just put in my order for 60 Mantic zombies. Now all I have to do is buy enough happy pills to endure painting 60 zombies without becoming one myself.
Haha, too right! I have a feeling we’ll be selling a lot of Zombies!
The problem with zombies is they can only be a ten man unit! They cannot have any options, which includes extra squad members!
Nice catch! I didn’t see that. 10 man units are still quite good, though, and all you need for an objective holding unit, but won’t serve as giant blobs.
White basecoat and washes.
This! And a dip, you got some ace looking miniatures fast and easy.

Yeah, there are a few wonky things in there, but on the whole, this codex is a win, in my opinion.
