you guys should have calendar of all the tournaments around here. whats next for you guys to run?
Our next event is Comikaze in LA, in September. We should have the info up for that soon, in the next week or so.
it’s nemsor zhandrek that does the phased reinforcements. He also makes the French breakfast list really nasty, if you opponent has one drop pod whole army deep strikes in..first turn, yikes!
Yeah, that was it. Such a brutal combo, we need to check up to see if it’s legal.
I am still playing a game I started in 2nd edition. Its awesome!!!!
hahahaha! So what, you’re on turn 2 by now?!
Listening to the podcasts, I had a thought about fixing the big time wastes that rolling warlord, psychic powers, and mysterious terrain: for warlord, you guys merely roll and assign for the player after registration; for psychic powers, you guys roll following player submission of list; for mysterious terrain, just assign them per table for the whole of the game.
Yeah, we’re considering some things like that. It is time consuming and it takes a bit of bookkeeping, as well. We need to streamline it.
Oh, please include Forgeworld. People are babies.
I am all for it!
Completely agree with y’all’s opinion of FW stuff. Really wish I could use my Tomb Stalker in NOVA open, I love the lil’ guy.
Yeah, and why not? He’s in no way OP, the regular Cron stuff is better for the most part. He’s a cool model that is fun to play!
Why can’t people just target the gun emplacements (Icarus or Quad) on the fortress?
T7 / W2 / 3+ (4+ cover) should be pretty easy to deal with. My understanding is that the guns aren’t ’embarked’ in the building, they just sit on the building basically (looks as if they are basically immobile artillery units). Quad guns look like Tesla Destructor bait to me, armies should have 1 turn to wipe the one or two Emplacement guns out before rnd 2.
With Zahndrek btw, you prevent the Interceptor weapons from getting their fire out of phase rule, as it states that it only happens in opponents Movement phase. Of course they would fire as normal in their following shooting phase.
It begs the question, can Immotehk lightening strike emplacements?
And, does Imotehk’s lightening hit his allies as they are classified as enemy units?
I understand the Gun to be a part of the Bastion, pg. 96 states that the gun on top of the Bastion is an emplaced weapon.
Actually, scratch that, it is a Gun Emplacement, not an emplaced gun, so yes, it can be shot at. You’re right, it will get smoked by Tesla.
riddle me this batman? what fw units are good?(have skyfire, worth buying for pts and $$?)
i’ll bring my tomb stalker cuz thats all the crons get. little cattapillar
There are a lot of FW units that are good for AA. The Mortis Contemptor Dread for one is a great buy for the points and will drop a Flyer right out of the sky! There are a few that also have Interceptor and skyfire and I think they will be a great addition to the game.
However, if they are worth the money or not? That is a question only the individual can answer.
to paul: Agree big time on the forgeworld units:) and mysterious, though, maybe assigned but only knowable when you get near it.
Psychic powers need to be random each game though. The New powers are pretty dangerous and if one guy gets awesomesauce at the start and throguhout the tourney he is at a big advantage, the same with the guy that gets nothing he wants.
Also some opponents armies may either make you want to take codex powers or gamble for something good in one of your available decks.
that’s pretty fundamental in sixth, being able to choose safe powers or gambling is an important choice.
If mysterious terrain didn’t take quite so long I’d say it’s also rather important. you and your opponent get to choose where to place objectives, placing them outside of mysterious terrain is a lot safer than having it inside. Going around mysterious is safer, though longer than going through it.
sure it is random, but your not forced into it[hopefully only one or two pieces of mysterious terrain per board:P] .
It makes placing objectives even more tactical, if you place it close to mysterious, your opponent probably can’t place another in that mysterious section.
more playtesting as always required, but my thoguhts, psychics should not be messed with:)
Regarding VP/KP: why not just total each armies dead (in codex point cost) and leave it at that? The guy who kills the most codex points wins that victory condition. The math is more straightforward.
I like that Rich we could just straight up do VP.
Do you mean add up how many models you killed? Like I kill 6 marines out of a squad, I get that many points of it? That gets crazy if so as you have to add up wargear and everything.
No, just go by straight cost in the codex. Whatever the model costs your opponent to put it in their list is the amount of points you get for killing it. Cuts out the step of dividing by 20, 50, 100, etc.
I kill 851 points worth of your 1500 point army but you kill 901 points of my 1500 point army, you win.
That gets CRAZY for bookkeeping, though.
You have to keep track of each model you kill and their wargear. That would be too much to ask of a player after a long, taxing game, and would take forever, too.
If it weren’t so logistically crazy though, it would be a good system.
