So, looks like we may not be getting FW in the mainstream after all.
About a week ago a contact of our called me to tell me that Forgeworld wasn’t going to make codices or “regular” units to be used without opponent permission in games of 40, and thus making them tournament legal.
I didn’t say anything as I didn’t want to seem like I was flip flopping as I heard from THREE different, very connected sources that FW was going mainstream. I wanted to believe it, too, to be honest as I love FW and want to use their stuff more often.
However, FW is now saying that they won’t be making codices so I think that is (obviously) pretty damn convincing. One of my sources says he thinks it is damage control and that they are just covering their butts, but I don’t know what to think at this point. I hope it comes true, but the evidence is mounting against that potentiality.
Sorry to get people’s hopes up if this turns out to be the case and FW units don’t become regular parts of the game. I think there is still a chance that it happens, but a slim one. I felt I had convincing enough evidence and it looks like I may end up with some egg on my face. Oh well.
We as a community can of course, always choose to use them, so it isn’t a total loss, but I am still pretty bummed on this one.
