To the D&D/Pathfinder reference, D&D’s sales are low because they’ve already printed all the core books while Pathfinder still has a core book or two left. the last of 4e’s core books were printed around the time Dark Sun came out (August of 2010), coupled with the fact that 5th ed has already been announced (with a public play test out on the 24th for all those that sign up on WoTC’s site), and the rumors have been pretty cool. I can expect that the sales will shift soon.
As to the fans making there own rules, what happened to the “Leaked” rules (I heard someone on BoLS call it the “Heretic Edition”). Why don’t we just use that or build on it?.
There is already a community project up and running. They are poised to begin writing rules should 6th be a fail.

Well, Kirby’s crew definitely knows the game, we’ll have to see how that goes.

That is some good info, thanks for sharing it. Sometimes you just have to look at data from a different perspective and it is a different story.
We could use leaked rule set, it was pretty awesome. I think the best thing to do though, is just to wait and see what happens.
