Star Wars Miniatures Game

Fantasy Flight primed to launch a 40K killer?

Fantasy Flight entered into negotiations with Lucas Films back in August for the rights to the Star Wars IP for use in RPGs, Card and Miniatures Games.

Yeah. Miniatures Games.

As a Star Wars lover and, obviously, a miniature addict, you knew this had my attention. After some more digging we’ve uncovered some more information. This is going to be a fully supported miniatures game launched by one of the biggest game manufacturers in the world. What we’re hearing is that they are gong to come out with as many as 6 fully supported factions in the initial release!

That’s pretty damn ambitious, and all of us here are intrigued to see how this goes. I love the Star Wars setting as much as the 40K setting, and to be able to have an army of Ewoks or Sith warms this gamer’s heart!

Time will tell as to what we get, but we’re hearing that this is legit and that the release is coming sooner than later.

We will be sure to report more as we her it!

  1. With how far the Star Wars franchise has sodomized itself in recent years, I’d wager the game will be a stinker. If they want to appeal to kids (which they undoubtedly will) they’ll be bringing Clone Wars into it which is a mood killer for me.
Hopefully, somone who loves and respects the original trilogy is in charge, but I’m not holding my breath.

    1. If Lucas has nothing at all to do with it, I think it could be fun. But it would probably be pre-painted and, I don’t think most pre-painted mini games sell very well.

  2. If it’s a unit-based game with fairly quick mechanics, it may just be a winner. I would love to have an army of Wookies led by Yoda.
