So the rumor mill is saying GW officially deny that the leaked PDF was GW material.
We’ll see what the truth is when 6th ed comes out, but I have my doubts. This is just too solid and big of a project to be a fake, IMO. Of course it is possible that it is, but my gut is saying that we saw a draft of the 6th ed rules and that GW is now playing damage control, or just chummed the water and are waiting to see community reactions.
Another rumor we have heard from a good source, is that GW is trying to keep a lid on things due to a clause in their relationship with the IP for the Hobbit. Supposedly, if GW doesn’t show that they can keep rumors under their hat, their rights to the Hobbit IP could be in jeopardy. Therefore, they just may be trying to mitigate the damage.
Who knows?
What I do know, is that I LOVED those rules on my first read through. I hope they are true, or are largely true. Time will tell, but here’s to hoping we get the game we read in those rules, or something close to it.
Whoever you are that wrote that, well done to you sir!
Dude, these are GW’s rules right down to their custom header font. This is Damage Control/Misdirection at it’s finest. I am certain of it!
I will be playing these rules as often as I can, cause they create a great tactically deep game.
If they do and that is a big IF in my eyes turn out to be fake and 6th isn’t at least half as radically game changing I will be playing these. Which isn’t an issue for me since I hardly ever play stock un-house ruled 40k.

I agree, that was a great rule set, IMO. I would love to see those changes come true. We haven’t play tested it yet, of course, but I enjoyed the ideas presented immensely.
So it’s rumored that they officially denied it? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. A guy I know who has some contacts told me it’s the real deal. Good enough for me. The header font was one of the main things I noticed. I think they’re just trying to come across as aloof. To admit they’re taking input from their audience is to radical for their M.O. This is just a way where we can pretend we got some sort of top secret info, and they don’t have to truly associate with us.
Let’s face it. Stuff like this doesn’t just, appear. If you work for a company like GW and ‘leak’ their stuff, YOU’RE UNDER CONTRACT. They have the power and the money to run your life into the ground. Methinks they’re testing the water like with the GK codex.
Exactly. I think this is legit, or a draft of the rules, perhaps even just a previous version. Either way, it looks too polished and dovetails with some other rumors we’ve been hearing.
‘The Mystery Box is not Space Hulk!’
^That’s what I think of GW ‘officially denying’ anything.
Very true!
YES! lol
If they are testing the water then I want to be on record as liking the evasion mechanic! Oh, and the changes to Rage!
It has been duly noted!
I like damn near all of it! I think it will balance the game a ton, and make it a more tactically complex and enjoyable game in addition to being much, much faster.
Bigger too. Seems like weapons and attacks are going to be killing units much faster. Recommended point ranges at the end were all near 3k. Up 1k from 5th ed.’s optimal range. Better for selling models… and way more fun ^_^
Reece, I hope you guys do a battle report playtesting the leaked rules! I’m sure it would be a TON of fun for you guys, and it would be fun to watch.
Who seconds this?
Here here, I’ll second this motion!
@Dave: Here’s a Bat Rep for your list.

The circumstances of the battle demand it be tested again, but I REALLY like that list 🙂
Now I just have to get a LR Redeemer 😛
We are planning on it, for sure! I am so juiced to bust my nids out under this rule set, and Will’s Daemons got so much better!
We gotta see some Tau and Eldar too. That makes at least 2 mandatory video battle reports 😛
We will do, and thanks for the bat rep! It is good to see these rule sin action.
Oh. That’s just a normal game that Dave and I had talked about. Less than normal even. 😛
I can’t begin to wrap my mind around the new stuff that quickly. Preparing for 3 events in the next month, then I may attempt a bat rep for the new rules 🙂
Ah, bummer! I mean, that is still cool, but I was getting excited to see the new rules in action.
