Here we have Frankie playing Luis’ tournament 1750 Imperial Guard list vs. Will with my Wolves and a Land Raider Achilles. This will help to show what the Achilles is really like on the table top. We will continue to play test units from Imperial Armor Apocalypse Second Edition so that everyone out there can see them in action. We will do this whether these units are included into the Bay Area Open 2012 or not, as we just enjoy trying out new things.
One game doesn’t prove anything absolutely, but as you can see, a lot of the hype about the Achilles is pretty overblown. We’ll try it again and see how it plays, but it isn’t that hot, in our opinions. Frankie Immobilized it turn 2 with Vendettas. I think the Caestus is quite a bit better, but hey, that is just my opinion.
What do you all think? Does this video change your opinion on the Achilles or no?
Lists in the Video.
Really like that you’re testing those units out. I was wondering if you’d give the Achilles one more chance. Having your main weapon blown off first turn would make any tank in 40k look worthless. Great battle report though. 🙂
Thanks! Yeah, we aren’t trying to prove anything unequivocally, just providing data and our opinions as we always do.
We’ll try it again for sure.
I hope so. I agree this wasn’t a great showing for the Achilles but I’ll make my main point on your IA Apocalypse – 2nd Ed, Part 2 post. Either way, keep up the great work!
Awesome. I look forward to seein’ it. 🙂
