Here we have the Phalanx against an assault Blood Angels list. This is a really good example of how to play this bad match-up for the Crons. (The points are a bit off on the Crons, but it was a casual game, so we didn’t sweat it).

ok, great game guys! question. it seemed like reece was re-using mindshackle scarabs in that ongoing assault. i thought they only worked in the first turn of assault. the book is unclear. whats your determination?
thanks
joe
Hey Joe, glad you enjoyed the report!
We play the mind shackle scarabs as working at the beginning of every round of combat. The item’s description reads “at the beginning of the assault phase” and as the assault phase is a phase of every player turn, it follows that it is usable in every player turn assault phase.
Those things are so good, they really make Necron units less vulnerable to assault.
Just thinking, at that point cost for your lords I think it would be better to replace one of them for the stormlord. You would have to free up a few points but it would give you the chance to take the initiative, give you night fight protection for turns 1 and 2, and you could get some extra lightning attacks.
I agree that the Stormlord is amazing, probably the best HQ in the book. In our tournament list, we are using him. In this list though, we needed an HQ that could protect the brick of infantry from assault, and Imotekh doesn’t fill that role. He is a bit of a pushover in combat, honestly.
You are right though, that is is Boss. We have a bat rep coming up that showcase how amazing he really can be.
Alright I look forward to seeing that battle report.

Hey Reese, long time no see! Great battle report, glad to see you trying a variety of units in the last few reports and especially trying flayed ones when the current net talk all goes against them. Now try out some praetorians and lychguard so I can see how they do for you!
Adam! What up, dude? I need to come by and see everyone.
Yeah, we have some Deathmarks, Lychguard and Doomsday Arks coming up. We like mixing it up and playing lots of stuff.
Flayed ones are pretty cool, actually. I think in 6th ed we may see characters able to infiltrate with squads or something like that, as Flayed ones like Lych Guard seem lame without any character support.
We have a report with Paetorians if you look for the battle with me vs. Tastey Taste.

You can see them in action there, they do pretty well, actually.
Haha, yeah, I watched that one, though it didn’t seem that they got a chance to shine with their Void Blades against your footdar. 😛
Let me know next time you come by so I’ll be sure to come by.
I definitely will!
